Dog-themed OlympusDAO fork whose Oct 2021 Balancer LBP raise of 13,556 ETH (~$60M) was drained ~20 hours in; funds laundered via Tornado Cash in 2022-23. No arrests or recovery.
AnubisDAO launched on October 28, 2021 as a dog-themed fork of OlympusDAO, selling its ANKH token for ETH through a Copper-hosted liquidity bootstrapping pool on Balancer. Roughly 20 hours into the raise, on October 29, 2021 (~11:58 UTC), an entity with control of the pool drained 13,556 ETH — about $60 million at the time (Chainalysis's 2021 crime-report coverage cited ~$58 million and ranked it among the year's largest rug pulls).
Core contributor "Sisyphus" said the drain was carried out by a rogue team member or via phishing of a team member and offered a 1,000 ETH bounty; the suspected developer, pseudonymous "Beerus," filed a report with Hong Kong police and surrendered a PC, and US law enforcement was notified on October 30, 2021. No charges followed.
The stolen ETH sat dormant for about eight months, with roughly 1,018 ETH first moved through Tornado Cash in mid-2022. On July 15-16, 2023, the remaining bulk was laundered through Tornado Cash in 100 ETH batches (flagged by PeckShield), then bridged to Polygon and consolidated into exchange deposit addresses. On July 20, 2023, on-chain investigator ZachXBT linked the laundering trail to the pseudonyms "Beerus" (bsl.eth) and an associate, "Ersan."
As of mid-2026 there have been no publicly reported arrests, indictments, or asset recoveries; victims' funds are considered unrecovered.
